You know why it's great to be short?
Airplane travel. Let's face it. Anyone over 5'4" can't fit their purse and their feet beneath the seat in front of them. Everyone either bumps their knees on that table or opts to pay $80 for 5 extra inches of room. Five measly inches. Being short makes for a comfy ride. But, with Miss Immunocompromised on my lap, air travel is out for a few years.
Know why else it's great to be short? No dating requirements about height! Ever heard that phrase, "Better to have loved a short girl than never to have loved a-tall." I think that's the way it goes... But seriously, I never had to make sure I could still wear heals without emasculating my dates because the men I dated were just about my height. Nope. I was short and I could wear two inch heels or three inch heels at any time. Bring them on. I could have fun in high heals and as long as he could dance, we were a go! And boy can my tall man dance!
The third and best reason I love being short? When my poor baby feels sick and yucky in the hospital and there's no comfy place around... Mommy can climb right into the hospital crib and can snuggle with her baby. Being short definitely had its advantage last night. I was a little worried about the weight requirement, but we were alright.
Poor Katherine had a sleepless night last night and today she's lined up for some serious chemo. Maybe she won't get the side effects they predict; some kids don't. Thanks for your prayers that our little trooper sleeps the day away and can catch up on some much needed Z's and that she doesn't get the yucky chemo side effects predicted for kids with Trisomy 21.
Thanks for your prayers.
There isn't a crib big enough in the world for me, but now I want an external picture of the two of you in there. :) Poor bud. Prayers out today, and every day. We love you. We wish we were there.

DeleteYou know what else is good about being short? It's easier for your friends to carry you when you need help.
ReplyDeletePrayers, prayers, prayers for Little Miss K! Oh, how I see such magnificent beauty and incredible strength when I look at her! She gets that from her Mom, you know.
Thank you so much. It has been a full two weeks of being carried by my friends and family, Bridget. I think you're right on. Daddy has the night shift tonight. I'm going to lift him up in prayers right now. Thanks for your support and sweet comments and prayers!
